6/24 Bargaining Update

Today we had our 35th session of negotiations with Allina. We started the day preparing a Work Schedules proposal, which we presented to the employer at 10:15 AM. We feel we are close to an agreement on this item, with the major hangup being accommodation provisions for older physicians, especially those who are nearing retirement.

We continued to work on our compensation proposals until meeting again with Allina at 1:10 PM. The employer's updated proposal showed some movement on Work Schedules, and included Allina's existing offers on other outstanding non-economic items. Our team had some issues with their Work Schedules proposal, mainly that it only provides for accommodations within three years of retirement, and references a policy that could be changed outside of the agreement.

We responded at 1:55 PM, adopting their framework for retirement arrangements while also attempting to address our concerns with their previous offer. Allina responded promptly at 2:30 PM, with a proposal that was improved but still had some of the same key issues as before. We made some modifications and responded at 3:10 PM, hoping to reach an agreement on Work Schedules by the end of our session. Allina came back at 3:30 PM and informed us that they were holding on their most recent Work Schedules proposal.

After a little bit more back-and-forth conversation with Allina, we met them at their three year timeframe and tentatively agreed to a Work Schedules provision.

Our next bargaining date is Monday, July 7th. We will begin the day at 8:30 AM and go into the afternoon. We will have hybrid caucus as usual at our bargaining Zoom link.
