4/30 Bargaining Update

Today we had our 31st session of negotiations with Allina. In the morning it was our turn to give the employer a proposal. At 10:00 AM we presented updated proposals on Seniority, Professional Practice, and General Employment Practices. We made an attempt to meet their desire for some individualized agreement provisions by outlining specific things that can be worked out in an offer letter or hiring agreement.

The employer responded at 11:30 AM. They presented an updated proposal on Scheduling with some positive changes. They also verbally responded to our package from earlier that morning, expressing they wanted to hold off on further changes to Seniority for now. They continue to insist on the necessity of full individual employment agreements that are separate from the collective bargaining agreement. They stated across the table that part of their goal is to continue enforcing existing non-compete agreements.

In the interest of continuing to move things forward we spent some time reviewing their offer on Scheduling, and identified some areas where we felt like we could find a compromise. We submitted a revised proposal to Allina at 1:25 PM.

The employer presented again at 3:05 PM. They made fewer substantive changes this time around.

Our next bargaining date will be Tuesday, May 13th starting at 8:30 AM and going into the afternoon. This will be a fully virtual session, and all members are encouraged to join our virtual caucus throughout the day. Our team will meet at the usual Zoom link.
