5/14 Bargaining: Important Updates

Allina refused to make any meaningful movement on our economic proposal today. Two months ago we introduced a comprehensive proposal that included raises for everyone, paid time off including sick leave, and pay for all of the non-direct patient care work we do. We have listened to their feedback and altered our proposal multiple times to try to find common ground. Unfortunately, Allina is sticking by a bare bones compensation proposal, setting our pay at the 25th percentile based on national data (they currently aim to pay us at the 50th percentile). They have offered zero ideas for how to pay us for non-patient care work. They continue to refuse any paid leave including sick time.

Initially Allina indicated they would like to work on a compensation model before talking specific numbers. We have provided multiple potential payment models we are open to and they still refuse to make any progress. Today we were told that they are not working on any kind of new model to account for the non-patient facing work we do and are not moving from their proposal that would see us all lose a significant amount of money.

If we take what is on the table, primary care will continue to deteriorate. More of us will leave or cut back our hours. Even fewer providers will apply for jobs or choose to go into primary care at all.

If we want primary care to improve and to see a real investment from Allina we need to stand up and tell Allina and the public that they need to come to the table and work together with us. Look out for information coming soon for how you can publicly support a fair contract and build a better future for us all.
